My Story

I love family, people, and making a difference.

KL_Web_BioFamily is so important to me. Preserving those family memories is priceless. I’m a husband and a father of 5 beautiful kids who I love and cherish. I approach every session as if you were my own family and I were to hang the image five feet wide on my own wall for everyone to see. I know it may sound cheesy but I really don’t look at what I do as providing “photographs”.  I look at it as preserving families and memories.  I look at it as providing both art and genealogy that will be valued and cherished for generations to come.

My passion for photography began many years ago.  I started taking images of  wake-boarders behind a boat, several times a week. Back then, I was using my first “film” SLR camera.  My passion for photography grew at the University of Utah in the field and in the darkroom as I developed my own film.  Once digital SLR’s came along I was already hooked.

I started with sports, and still love them.  I continue to photograph hundreds of dancers every year.  My passion and interest in people, however, soon drew me in to portraits. Whether newborns, young children, high school seniors, missionaries, weddings or families, I love working with individuals. I find them interesting and amazing. Portraiture is now the majority of my work.

In 2006 I began “business”.  I have learned a lot since then.  My studio has grown with my passion and so has a sizable collection of props and accessories. I can now fit extended families of about 25+ in my studio.  I still love doing a lot of location sessions and have now shot all over Salt Lake City including surrounding mountains and cities.

I’m a member of the Intermountain Professional Photographers Association.

I have a lot of fun at what I do.  I’m very grateful that I get to do it.

I love to give back when I can.  I  volunteer with a non-profit organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep which offers free bereavement photography.  I host an annual event called Fright Against Hunger where we offer free portraits of your children in their Halloween costume in exchange for a can of food which is donated to the Utah Food Bank.

I would love the opportunity to get to know and work with you. It’s my goal for you to “find your unique image in ours” and then cherish it for years and generations to come. I’m not only committed to delivering a great product, I’m determined to deliver a great experience.
